Have You Died Yet?
I know, when you saw the headline you may have frowned slightly.
I am asking a genuine question, perhaps one of the most important questions you’ve ever been asked.
If like myself up until I was 41 years young, your 1 and only connection to the reality of death is that of the death of our physical body, then reading the headline “Have You Died Yet?” may have made you wonder what could I possibly be meaning.
I recall vivid moments during my 20s and 30s where SUDDENLY the fear of the death of my body at some point in the future would bring me in to absolutely crippling fear. I recently shared more on the story Facing Into The Inevitability Of Death.
Personal Death In April 2019
In April 2019 I experienced personal death.
I died and I was brought to life.
I died to living for myself.
I died to living with myself at the centre of my life.
I died to living not realising I have a soul and a spirit.
I died to living in sin and condemnation.
I died to being troubled and ultimately controlled by the powers of darkness.
I died to thinking that once I die that is my life over.
I died to self.
SUDDENLY, at the most helpless and hopeless point of my life I had ever been in, I had the personal revelation that:
God is real
God loves me
Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the Son of God
He surrendered His life to save my life
He shed His blood to be the atoning sacrifice for my lifetime of sins
Having battled with the dark destructive voices of the devil and his hordes for over 20 years, I was suddenly experiencing peace unlike I had ever felt, and I knew with the whole of my being that I had found what I had been looking for since my late teenage years.
Without knowing what it meant to become a born-again follower of Jesus, I knew I was going to get baptised.
I knew I was going to give my life to the one who gave His life to save my life.
So, Have You Died Yet?
Death of self comes to everyone at some point.
I believe that everyone, deep deep down, knows that something in them or of them will need to die at some point in their life on earth.
